Today's Downtime

    I'm making this thread because there appears to be a lot of confusion about today's downtime. Let me start off by first stating that nothing has been hacked.

    There has been an individual (or perhaps group?) going around DDoSing Mojang's session servers and also targeting a few specific Minecraft servers. When Mojang's session servers are offline, no one can login to any server. Although Minetime has not been specifically targeted, you're all currently unable to login to it (and all other servers) because the session servers are down.

    Despite what many people have said, there is absolutely no reason why you should be worried about getting hacked. DDoS attacks have nothing to do with hacking. A DDoS attack is simply knocking something offline. People have been saying that you should not login to affected servers/Mojang's website or else you will be hacked. This is completely false and makes no sense. Servers do not have access to any of your sensitive data (such as your password) and again, nothing has been hacked -- only DDoSd.

    For now, the only thing we can do is wait until the session servers are back online. This is simply a very powerful DDoS attack against Mojang's session servers. The Mojang team is currently aware (according to Twitter) and are actively working to fix this. Again, there is no reason to panic or fear that you may be hacked. This kind of thing has happened many times in the past and Mojang is always efficient in resolving it.

    Thanks for specifying this to the people that didn't know what was going on Collin. :)
    As stated above. Please go to that link to keep an eye on minecraft' (or should I say Mojang') Services status. And I would like to say to the people that thought Mojang was hacked, they probably wouldn't of gone for us (Players they don't even know.) They would of gone for the most famous Profiles in the minecraft community.

    It crashed about 5 minutes later, when it came back up, about 25 hours from now.
    It's working fine now though.
