PvpFest Reset

Hello Minetimers!

Today I am happy to announce our third major reset in the last few weeks: PvpFest! As PvpFest players know, the current PvpFest server is not in a good state. Its economy is inflated from when there was an auction exploit, it lags often, and the ranks are quite unbalanced. In this new iteration of PvpFest we have fixed all the server's issues and added some great new features. The changes are detailed below.

New map and spawn:
PvpFest now has a completely new world with a new spawn. It is significantly larger, more complex, and better-looking than our old map. It was also made entirely by our very own build team! Make sure to thank our build team members if you see them on the forums or in-game. One important technical change to note is that there is now only one enchantment table on the map. It resides in the shop (in spawn) and maxes out around level 10. We made this change to encourage voting (take a peak at the crate contents!) and reduce the amount of very overpowered players.

New voting system:
As with survival and skyblock resets, we completely overhauled the old voting system by introducing crate-based voting. This new system provides much more incentive for even the most wealthy players to vote. We also think you'll find it to be quite fun. Here's how it works: For every vote, you earn a fixed amount of money ($25). On top of the $25, you also have a chance to win a crate key. There are three types of crates:

• "Common Crate" (1/5 chance of getting a key)
• "Lucky Crate" (1/25 chance of getting a key)
• "Exceptional Crate" (1/125 chance of getting a key)

The crates are located in the main spawn area at /warp vote. You can punch a given crate to view its contents and right-click it with its corresponding key to get rewards. If you open a crate using its key, it will give you a random prize from its selection. Each selection has an equal chance of being the prize.

Permissions changes:
Ranks in the current iteration of PvpFest are very overpowered. We left donator kits untouched, and our ranks still give you excellent rewards -- but we made the following changes to make things more feasible for non-ranked users:

• Removed /fly ability (was available to Admin and Timeless users)
• Removed /heal ability (was available to users ranked Executive and higher)
• Removed the ability to repair armor that is being worn
• Removed the Premium ("Major") rank from users who won it by voting
• Removed kit tempest from users who won it by voting

We removed the Premium rank from users who won it by voting because that perk is no longer available to win via voting and the large amount of ranked users in our permissions file was lagging the server. We also removed kit tempest access from users who won it through voting because kit tempest (one kit, not permanent access) is now available to win via the common crate.

Other:

• The server has been updated to 1.8.8
• The lag has been fixed
• We changed up the shop a bit (/warp shop)
• There is no longer a way for users to escape PvP by entering the spawn area
• The map is encased with barrier blocks instead of glass
