I'm designing walls to a castle I'm building. I need input on what I should do to the walls. What they currently look like: (This just designing, I'm not yet building the castle) @Kyleep @RealNickonator
Make it much taller and use more slabs and stairs etc to add more depth and detail. It currently looks too fat and short. Defo make it taller.
Don't use all those trapdoors. When it comes to using trapdoors, only have one every so often, like something to go in the centre. Never use it in a repetitive pattern. Also, don't put on blocks because you feel you have to - placing down a couple of tripwire hooks does not equal 'detail'. You don't want to overload it. On the cobblestone areas, try adding some slabs or stairs just so the wall doesn't look completely blank. You could try placing a slab that leaves a gap and put another block behind it so the build appears to have layers underneath- this is what we mean by 'depth'.
Why didn't I get the alert? Strange... Anyways, I recommend, if you insist on the repetition, to space it out by a couple blocks; however, repetition looks lazy, so I suggest mixing it up a bit. Maybe add an extra layer of depth by implementing support arches.
The guy I'm building this for wants it like that. He's not letting me make it my way. If it was my way the walls wouldn't be made out of so many logs...
You have to remember that you need to pick blocks that work together. Throwing quartz onto that wall wouldn't look right.
