    Hello Minetimers,

This is an update to our original rules thread, which can be found here. That old rules thread is now void; and this thread is in effect as of 9 June 2015. The following rules apply to all of our Minecraft servers (and our website, if applicable). By playing on our Minecraft servers or using our website, you accept and agree to these rules. I understand that this thread is quite long, but I feel it necessary to make our list of rules as exhaustive as possible in order to avoid any confusion. You can easily link others to this thread by providing them with the URL www.minetime.com/rules.

Click here for a list of our forum rules.

These activities are prohibited and generally warrant a temporary ban:
    • Griefing -- This term generally means destroying other players' creations, but it can take many forms. Please see this Gamepedia page for a better understanding of what griefing is. This is only prohibited on Skyblock, Survival and Creative. On all other Minetime servers, griefing is either impossible or permitted.
    • Non-malicious impersonation of staff -- This usually takes the form of making it look like a staff member is saying things that do not imply any action or opinion, such as making it look like a staff member is saying "hello."
    • Ban threats -- Telling players they will be banned for saying or doing something that is not actually in violation of our rules or telling players they will be banned if they do not do a certain thing
    • Inappropriate builds -- This is generally only an issue on the Creative server, but inappropriate builds anywhere on the Minetime network are prohibited. The most common inappropriate builds are strip clubs, "sex rooms", and profane or sexual signs.
    • Item spam -- Spamming fireworks, arrows or other items
    • Suicide threats -- Threatening to commit suicide or insinuating in any way that you will or may commit suicide will get you temporarily banned.
    • Death threats -- Threats that wish harm upon others, typically "kys", will get you temporarily banned.
These activities are prohibited and generally warrant a permanent ban:
    • * Chargebacks -- This occurs when a payment chargeback or other dispute is opened on the funds that were used to purchase your rank. If another user bought the disputed package for you, you can email [email protected] to get unbanned.
    • Advertising -- The most common form of advertising is advertising other Minecraft servers through the chat or signs, but there are many different forms of advertising. Advertising any other server, realm, website, service, etc. through any means can warrant a permanent ban. This also includes advertising your personal Buycraft links in a faction description, etc.
    • DDoS or hacking threats -- Threatening to DDoS or hack or actually DDoSing or hacking Minetime or any player will get you permanently banned. Even subtle threats (such as messaging a player their own IP address) will get you permanently banned. We deem what is and isn't a threat.
    • * Other threats -- Threats that explicitly inflict bodily harm, destroy property, "SWAT", "dox" or endanger someone's physical, mental or emotional health in any way warrant a permanent ban. As always, we deem what is and isn't a threat.
    • Malicious impersonation of staff -- This usually takes the form of making it look like a staff member is telling a player that they will be banned unless they do a certain thing. Any impersonation outside the realm of just saying "hello, I am [staff member's name]" generally falls into this category.
    • Inappropriate or deceptive usernames -- If your username contains profanity or otherwise inappropriate language or is deceptively similar to a staff member's name (example: MinetimeStaff) you will be permanently banned. You can appeal your ban once you have changed the username.
    • Inappropriate skins -- If your Minecraft skin or forums profile picture is profane, pornographic, distasteful or inappropriate in any way, you will be permanently banned (game) or have your profile picture delete (forums). You can appeal your ban once you have changed your skin.
    • Claiming to have a special relationship with staff -- Saying things like "Collin is my brother" or "I can't get banned because I know Emily" will get you permanently banned.
    • * Malicious collection of data -- This can come in many forms, but the most common example of this is "scraping accounts." If we catch you collecting or attempting to collect our players' data (such as their usernames) using an automated program, we will permanently ban you.
    • Ban evading -- If you use an alternate account, borrow your friend's account, or do anything else in order to bypass a ban, we might ban your alternate account. We don't always ban alternate accounts, but we will if you continue to break the rules or we, for whatever reason, especially dislike you. This also means that lending a banned user any account is prohibited.
These activities are prohibited and generally warrant a temporary mute:
    • Profane, sexual or otherwise inappropriate chat -- We deem what is and isn't appropriate.
    • Spamming -- This generally takes the form of sending a similar chat message multiple times. Severe spam can warrant different punishments, including a temporary or permanent ban.
    • Mentioning other servers -- Statements like "brb, I'm going to [other server's name]" are prohibited. This will usually get you a warning and temporary mute; but in special cases this can lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
    • Asking staff for free items, ranks, etc.
    • Deceptive chat -- Chat that is specially formatted to trick players is prohibited. This includes regular chat messages made to look like private messages.
    • Bullying -- This can warrant many different punishments, including a temporary or permanent ban.
The following activities, although usually prohibited on other servers, are permitted on Minetime:
    • Tricking or scamming other players -- Minetime doesn't involve itself in transactions it doesn't oversee. Please make sure you trust the players with whom you interact. It should be noted that some actions that could be considered trickery are still prohibited (see sections on deceptive chat, deceptive usernames, staff impersonation, etc.)
    • Using modified clients ("hacks") -- Minetime will not help you install modified clients or cater to your modified clients by delaying server updates, but you can use them. Any hack that directly harms the server (such as a crashing exploit) is still prohibited and can warrant a permanent ban.
    Miscellaneous:
You may also be banned or otherwise punished for offenses that are not listed here. As our payment agreement states: "Minetime reserves the right to disallow/ban any account on any Minetime service with or without notice for any reason. Bans are subject to the full discretion of the server administrators and rules can be changed at any time." Granted, we only punish users for reasons we deem to be valid and do not go around banning players for no reason.

Minetime does not discriminate when choosing punishments. Just because someone else breaks our rules does not mean that you can. We can't monitor every player 24/7, but we do punish everyone we catch appropriately. We disregard statements like "but other people were doing it" and "but soandso did it and they weren't punished."

    * indicates bans that can't be appealed. You cannot appeal if you were banned for a chargeback (opened from your residence), malicious collection of data, or SWAT threats.

Temporary bans cannot be appealed. Ban appeals are for permanent bans only.
