personally, i think that the swear filter is kind of unnecessary. minetime's rules allow you to swear in parties and messages as long as it's not harassment; what difference does it make if it's in public or private chat? plus, it's mostly to protect little kids, but the little kids (like 12 or younger) are the ones breaking the filter all the time anyway.

1. spam of any kind is already not allowed
2. #2 and #3 are basically the same thing, i just think as long as it's not directed at anyone it should be fine

it's just, a big chunk of the job of being a helper or mod is to warn people for swearing. it just seems like it's not worth the trouble.

 

I think swearing is bad and it can be hurtful if directed at someone.
I dont think there are any benefits of being able to swear.

 

yeah, that's why i think non-harassing swearing should be allowed. and, i don't think swearing is bad in itself, it's just how it's used. why should the rules about swearing in /party and /msg be different than in shout? if we don't allow any swearing in public chat, allowing swearing that's non-harassment in private chat defeats the purpose of having a filter at all.

While we're at it, let's demote Tyler and Jess, delete the Prison server, and ban half the members. The swear censor is there for a reason, and with the new helpers, it will be well supported and run.

I disagree. If players want to swear and be around swearing, then that is their choice (hence why it's allowed in message). However, if people are doing it in public chat, it is exposing all players to profanity, some of whom may be of a very young age. Swearing in message has always and always will be allowed because it is their choice to swear through /msg. However, if someone is directing the profanity towards the user, then this is punishable. They are advised to /ignore the user and report them so they they could be either muted or banned depending on the severity of what they've said.

The point is, people can control what they're saying in /msg but in public chat, they can't. If they don't want to be exposed to profanity then they shouldn't be.

 

To be honest, I have never considered this a swear word so having it uncensored wouldn't be an issue for me.

 

Damnit guys, **** is such a bad word. **** people wanting the **** word **** allowed. This isnt safe for the **** children. There are **** rules set in place for a reason damnit.
