Nether star's arn't 1-2k. Nether stars can be used to make beacons, so they should be cheeper than a beacon price i think.
Well, there's not much apart from a beacon you can make with a nether star. If they say 1-2k it's only because it's in the 'Exceptional Crate' And they haven't thought about what they can do/craft with it.

We shouldn't really restrict ourselves to such prices. I've visited a shop once that sells way more cheaper than the rest. I've became a very loyal customer of that shop.
